2021 Travail Macedon Ranges Pinot Noir Piquette

by Travail Wine Co View producer profile

This project started out as a bit of an experiment to try and make great tasting low alcohol piquette. We found an old French recipe that rehydrated the fruit that had already been pressed. At only 5.5% alcohol this piquet is best for a hot day at the beach or at a picnic in the park, or for one of those nights where you want to be social but have to get up in the morning. Made using the skins from 100% Macedon Ranges Pinot Noir, from the well known Wilimee Vineyard,  cherry on the nose, red fruit bright and aromatic. On the palate it is sour cherries, with fine bubbles, white pepper and spice. Bright and juicy, thirst quenching, smashable, fun!

Mike Bennie, from The Wine Front, describes our Piquette as 'Cherry Juice, cranberry tang, refreshing, lightly foamy but very fresh feeling. Zesty...Very delicious drinking." He rated it 93 points.
